The City of Concord (pop. 130,000) is ideally located east of the San Francisco Bay with easy access to many of California¹s most scenic and desirable areas. The City Engineer will lead a staff of 20 and administer the Engineering Division, which consists of the Capital Improvement Program group (Design and Construction Sections) and Current Development Section. This is an exciting year in the CIP group with 20 projects under way with a value of approximately $32 million. The Current Development Section is responsible for reviewing and preparing engineering conditions of approval related to development applications and for overseeing the City Grading and Storm Water Ordinance, Street Encroachment Ordinance and Floodplain Management Ordinance.

The ideal candidate will be customer based, performance driven, and results oriented. Outstanding management skills and ability to lead and motivate staff are essential. Experience in managing multiple projects and experience in land development is preferred. At least six years of increasingly responsible municipal supervisory or management experience, a Bachelor¹s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (a Masters is desirable), and California Registration as a Civil Engineer are required.

The salary level (up to $125,916 annually) is under review with an increase in top step expected. Under the pay for performance system, the position is eligible for incentive awards up to 12% of base salary annually.

Associate Civil Engineer/Associate Engineer

The City of Fremont invites you to apply for the position of Associate Civil Engineer/Associate Engineer. This position in the Design Section will be part of a team implementing a $171 Million Capital Improvement Plan. This work includes numerous major street widenings, pavement rehabilitations, storm drain improvements and other public works projects.

Examples of Responsibilities:

- Prepare plans and specifications for a wide variety of public works projects.
- Hire consultants for engineering support and administer contracts.
- Coordinate projects with various City Departments and outside agencies, customers and consultants.
- Act as a project manager on design projects.
- Prepare written correspondence, agreements and City Council reports.
- Attend meetings with the public, Planning Commission and City Council as necessary for project development and approval.
- Sign off on documents and reports and perform other duties requiring certification as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

Alameda County is actively recruiting for the position of Administrative/Financial Services Manager.

THE POSITION
The Administrative/Financial Services Manager is the highest level class within the administrative services and financial services class series, characterized both by the breadth of responsibility and recognition as second level managers within the series. Incumbents in this classification direct and manage various administrative and financial service staff and function at an agency or major departmental level; serve in a consultative role to management in addressing and resolving administrative, programmatic and policy matters; implement and facilitate the implementation of a wide variety of programs and projects. Positions in this class exercise full authority for making decisions and implementing programs to ensure the effective provision of administrative, financial and analytical services to the assigned agency or department.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess the equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university (180 quarter units or 120 semester units) with a major in business or public administration, or a field related to the work. (Additional professional or paraprofessional administrative or financial services experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.) AND the equivalent of three years of full-time management or supervisory level experience in financial planning or analysis, budget development and processing, contract negotiation and/or grants management or general administrative services at a level equivalent to or higher than the Alameda County classified classes of Supervising Administrative Specialist or Supervising Financial Services Specialist, preferably in a public agency setting.

Specified positions may require possession of a valid California driver’s license.
