Submission Guidelines and General Information

Date: SEPTEMBER 3-4, 2008 (Wednesday & Thursday)
Location: San Ramon Marriott Hotel
2600 Bishop Drive
San Ramon, CA 94583

The Public Works Conference is a two-day conference featuring the latest procedures, projects, issues and new technologies in street and sewer maintenance, engineering and management. Over 300 Public Works practitioners from Bay Area Public Works agencies attend, in addition to exhibitors displaying the latest methods and technologies available.

The Public Works Conference is sponsored by the APWA Northern California Chapter; Maintenance Superintendents Association, California Water Environment Association, SF Department of Public Works, Public Works Departments of Alameda, Oakland, Contra Costa, Marin and San Mateo.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

• Learning Objectives: Submissions must include a learning objective that completes the sentence: “At the end of this session, participants will be able to….”

• Commercial-Free Zone: Direct promotions of a speaker’s products, services, or monetary self-interest are not appropriate for education sessions. Case studies of product applications, project management systems and services, etc. should include co-presentations from user agencies and organizations.

• Session length: Session lengths are determined by the number of speakers in a session and topic content. Sessions are either 55 minutes or 70 minutes.

• Scheduling: We try to accommodate date and time requests but due to the complexity of determining topic placement we may not be able to do so.

• Handouts: We require handouts for all presentations. Handouts will be printed for your convenience if submitted 1 week prior to the presentation.

A Public Works Conference Committee liaison will coordinate all of your arrangements, answer questions and assist with your presentation.

We encourage your involvement in this gratifying opportunity to share your expertise in your chosen field with Public Works practitioners in the Bay Area.
